Why Bitget restricts accounts
Bitget names suspected hacking, contact with scammers, sanctions links, terms violations, missing KYC documents, crime-linked funds and law-enforcement requests. Its Terms of Use allow restrictions while information or EDD is pending, and say decisions may rest on confidential criteria — so support may not tell you exactly what triggered the flag. The Terms also allow only one account per person and forbid using a VPN to get around restrictions. More background: why exchange accounts get frozen.
How to resolve each type
Contacting Bitget. Use live chat (the Customer Service icon on the website or in the app) and the Support Ticket page. Bitget's support emails are notification-only — replies sent by email are not received, so add documents on the ticket page. If you can't log in, the ticket page has a guest option using the email you filed with. Bitget: checking ticket status.
EDD. Done under Identity Verification: proof of address, then source of funds, then source of wealth, each with documents. Bitget's rules:
- Proof of address in your name, generally dated within the last three months.
- Evidence matching the source you select — payslips or tax documents for salary, financial statements for a business, sale agreements for property, probate or a will for an inheritance.
- JPG, PNG or PDF; split files over 20 MB. Other languages are fine if the key details are clear.
- You may mask unrelated transactions, but your name, address, account number, issuer and the relevant transactions must stay visible.
Common rejections are blurry or cropped images, missing pages, out-of-date documents and details that don't match your verified identity. If EDD isn't completed in time, features such as trading may be restricted. Bitget: EDD FAQ. Our free source of funds letter generator and guide help you write the explanation.
Bank-deposit EDD has its own check: submit within 18 calendar days or the deposit is cancelled and refunded. Review typically takes about three business days. Bitget: EDD for bank deposits.
Self-disabled account. Choose Unlock account at login and answer questions about your last login, holdings and reason. You may need a screen recording of your deposit history, your ID and a selfie holding it. No fixed review time is given. Bitget: unlock your account.
Risk-control freeze. There's no published self-service route or timeline. Open a ticket with transaction IDs, the exact error message and a short, factual account of the activity, then answer follow-up questions fully.
P2P disputes and P2P freezes
Try the order chat first, then file an appeal from the order page with a reason (up to 500 characters) and a video; a Bitget P2P specialist joins the chat to mediate. The video must be an unedited, uncut screen recording showing your Bitget login with the date and time, your payment account, the transaction's date and amount, and the counterparty's name and account. Bitget says appeals are typically resolved within 36 hours, but an appeal is mediation, not a guaranteed refund, and false claims can lead to suspension. Bitget P2P appeal rules.
Under Bitget's P2P risk-control rules, refusing AML verification can freeze your account and related accounts until your evidence passes review; renting accounts, buying for others or unexplained small "test" transfers can also trigger freezes. Bitget P2P risk control. If your bank froze your account after a trade, you'll also need written evidence from the bank.
What still works while restricted
It depends on the type. During a T+X limit you can still buy and trade. During EDD, Bitget names trading as an example of what may be restricted. You can usually still log in, check your verification status and reply on tickets, and Bitget says frozen assets stay stored until the issue is resolved. Use the time to build one complete, consistent document pack.
Closure, regional exits and withdrawing
Bitget's Terms let you withdraw to an external wallet when you have enough balance and the assets aren't on hold. Bitget may also restrict withdrawals, hold funds it considers unlawfully held, close open positions and deduct amounts you owe. The Terms set no general withdrawal window after termination, so follow your notice closely. Bitget Terms of Use.
- France: services ended in March 2026; leftover assets went to a licensed provider, and balances of 10 USDC or less could be kept as a termination fee.
- Japan: gradual restrictions from November 2026 and forced closure of positions from the end of December 2026. If you were wrongly classified as a Japan resident, Bitget asks you to complete Level 2 verification with proof of address.
- Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan: listed as prohibited jurisdictions in the Terms; in October 2026 The Defiant reported that affected users got individual deadlines and withdrawal instructions.
In September 2026 Bitget paused withdrawals for everyone after a security incident and restored them in phases — always check announcements before assuming your account was singled out.
Common mistakes

- Over-redacting documents or sending old statements.
- Sending an edited P2P appeal video, or clicking "Paid" before paying.
- Missing the deadline in an EDD or exit notice.
- Trusting "recovery agents". Bitget says staff never ask for passwords, 2FA codes or private keys; check any contact with its official verification tool and read how unfreeze scams work.
