Types of HTX restrictions
- Withdrawal limit: HTX's risk controls have limited withdrawals from your account. This is the case HTX's official appeal process is built for.
- Request for extra verification: during a review HTX may ask for video KYC or proof of where your funds came from, with a deadline.
- Regional restriction: services are closing or limited in your country. In 2026 this mainly affects users in the UK and the EU (see below).
- A freeze on another exchange: your HTX account may be fine, but Binance, Bybit, OKX or another platform restricted you after a transfer to or from HTX.

Why it happens
HTX says its risk controls are designed to detect and stop abnormal transactions, including withdrawals to addresses linked to scams. It also blacklists addresses linked to illicit activity and intercepts deposits from them. In practice, a limit often follows activity that doesn't match your usual pattern, funds from a flagged address, or verification that is incomplete or out of date.
Regulation is the other driver: HTX is exiting the UK and is under an EU transaction ban (see below). For the general picture, see why crypto accounts get frozen.
How to resolve each type
In an October 2025 announcement, HTX described one official channel for removing withdrawal limits and said any other contact methods or links are not official:
| Your situation | What HTX says to do |
|---|---|
| You can log in | In the app or website go to Support → User Self Service → Withdrawal Limit, complete the form and submit a ticket. Track it under Support → Ticket Status. |
| You can't log in | Email HTX customer support from the email address linked to your HTX account. Use only the address shown on HTX's official website or in the app. |
| HTX asks for documents | Complete video KYC or provide proof of the source of your funds, within the deadline HTX gives you. |
| UK or EU user | Follow the regional exit process. A normal withdrawal-limit appeal won't change a regional restriction. |
HTX says it replies to withdrawal-limit requests within 24 hours and that the service is free. There is no published time for the full review. If asked for proof of funds, send one complete, consistent pack. Our source of funds letter generator and the source of funds guide show how to structure it.
What still works while restricted
With a withdrawal limit you can usually still log in, which is what lets you file the Withdrawal Limit form and follow your ticket. Use that access to collect deposit records, transaction hashes and the history behind your balance. A regional exit is different: UK accounts can no longer deposit or trade, so the only step left is withdrawing under the conditions below.
UK and EU users: withdrawing your funds
United Kingdom. The UK's Financial Conduct Authority took legal action against HTX in February 2026 over illegal financial promotions. It notes that HTX is on its Warning List and that HTX users have no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FCA press release). The UK government also sanctioned HTX's operator in May 2026; HTX disputes the designation. In October 2026, HTX settled with the FCA and published a UK exit notice. Cointelegraph and IBTimes UK report the notice's terms:
- UK users with remaining assets can contact HTX customer support to request a one-time 48-hour withdrawal window.
- The request is subject to approval and checks that may cover identity, account ownership, sanctions compliance, anti-money-laundering, fraud and account security. HTX says withdrawals also fall under the restrictions of the UK's Personal Remittances General Licence.
- Once approved, you must withdraw everything yourself within the 48 hours. HTX does not transfer assets on users' behalf, and accounts close after the assets have been withdrawn.
Have the destination wallet, documents and funds history ready before you request it. Read HTX's own UK availability notice for the current wording.
European Union. HTX was added to the EU's Russia sanctions package in July 2026, with a ban on EU operators transacting with it from August 2026. According to The Block, the measure includes a route for eligible EU, EEA and Swiss nationals and residents to ask a national authority for permission to withdraw funds or close their account. Applications must be made within three months of the ban taking effect, so that period ends in November 2026. It is for individuals, discretionary and handled by your national authority, not HTX. If it applies to you, act now and consider a local lawyer.
Frozen elsewhere because of HTX funds
After the UK sanctions in May 2026, CoinDesk reported that Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget all tightened checks on transfers involving HTX; Bybit advised users to avoid HTX-related addresses, and OKX warned that moving funds between the two platforms could bring extra scrutiny. In August 2026 Binance added HTX to the platforms it restricts. It says transactions involving them trigger a compliance review that may result in wallet restrictions.
If another exchange froze you over HTX funds, the fix happens on that exchange. Show when and why you used HTX, and that the money has a lawful origin. See our pages for Binance, Bybit and OKX.
Common mistakes
- Paying an "unfreezing fee". HTX says removing withdrawal limits is free, and anyone asking for unfreezing fees, handling fees or security deposits is a scammer.
- Using unofficial contacts. Telegram "agents", links in direct messages and look-alike login sites are not HTX. Use only the in-app Support section or contact details from HTX's official website.
- Missing a deadline. Submit documents on time, and don't waste a 48-hour UK window by being unprepared.
- Moving HTX funds through several hops to "clean" them. This looks like layering and makes any review worse. Your explanation, documents and on-chain history must tell the same story.
How we help with HTX cases
- We work out whether you face an HTX withdrawal limit, a regional exit, or a freeze on another exchange caused by HTX funds.
- We prepare your source-of-funds explanation and document pack for an HTX review or for the other exchange's compliance team.
- We draft your ticket messages and follow-ups, and help UK users plan for the 48-hour window.
HTX itself has warned about scammers who pose as its staff and demand fees to lift withdrawal limits. We never ask for seed phrases, private keys, passwords or 2FA codes, and nobody can "unlock" an HTX account for a fee. See the warning signs. CryptoUnfreeze is independent and not affiliated with HTX. To start, describe your case by email or browse other exchanges.
Frequently asked questions
How long does HTX take to remove a withdrawal limit?
HTX says it replies within 24 hours of your request. The full review has no fixed time. It depends on whether HTX asks for video KYC or proof of funds and how quickly you provide them.
Does HTX charge a fee to unfreeze my account?
No. HTX says the process is free and that requests for unfreezing fees, handling fees or deposits are scams. Report and avoid them.
I live in the UK. Can I still get my crypto out of HTX?
According to reports of HTX's October 2026 notice, eligible UK users can request a one-time 48-hour withdrawal window through HTX customer support, subject to compliance checks. Prepare everything before you ask for it.
Binance or Bybit froze me after an HTX transfer. Should I contact HTX?
Mainly no. The restriction sits with the receiving exchange, so answer its review. HTX deposit and withdrawal records are useful evidence for that review.
