MEXC account frozen or under risk control? What it means and what to do

A MEXC restriction can be a 24-hour withdrawal pause after a security change, an automated verification check, an Account Risk Review that asks for source-of-funds documents, or a longer restriction for suspected rule violations. The fix depends on which one you have.

MEXC's Risk Control Guideline says most withdrawal restrictions last 24 hours, but MEXC may shorten, extend or make them permanent. Suspicious trading patterns can bring a 30-day enhanced monitoring period, and coordinated violations or high-risk activity can bring restrictions of up to 180 days. MEXC Risk Control Guideline.

Why MEXC restricts accounts

The triggers MEXC names include: password or 2FA resets; unfamiliar login environments and frequent device or network switching; trading that departs from your usual pattern; coordinated multi-account or bot activity; wash trading, spoofing or manipulation; unusual P2P or OTC fund flows; funds reported as stolen; links to sanctioned persons; incomplete advanced identity verification; and using MEXC from a jurisdiction its terms prohibit.

MEXC can act without prior notice and says it cannot share details of suspicious-transaction reports. In a November 2025 statement it admitted some risk-control rules had been too inflexible for legitimate users and said it had set up a dedicated team to speed up unfreezing reviews. How to resolve each type

  • Security cooling-off: wait. It isn't something support can speed up.
  • Verification prompts: complete them. MEXC says these restrictions lift automatically once verification is complete. If a withdrawal asks for KYC facial verification, do it yourself, with your own face and documents.
  • Account Risk Review: on the web go to the homepage footer → Help Center → Account Risk Review; in the app, Home → More → Services → Help Center → Account Risk Review. Click Apply and upload. MEXC says document review typically takes around 3 business days. A deeper risk-control analysis may follow, with an estimated time shown on the review page, and restrictions "cannot be lifted manually or ahead of schedule".
  • Risk-control removal form: the Help Center also has a "Submit Risk Control Removal Information" form, reviewed within 1–3 business days with the result by email. If you're rejected, the reasons are stated and you can resubmit from the email link or the Help Center.
  • Enforcement actions: you can file a formal appeal with documents, request an internal review or add evidence. MEXC says a review's duration or outcome cannot be guaranteed.

Results come by in-platform message and email. For anything else, use MEXC's 24/7 online customer service in the app or website, or Submit a Ticket. If trading restrictions remain after a review, MEXC says they are "not eligible for removal at this time". MEXC: Account Risk Review Guide.

Documents MEXC asks for

  • Source of funds matching where the money came from (own wallet, another exchange, a third party, crypto investment, another platform), e.g. wallet-ownership proof and transaction-hash screenshots.
  • Employment or income: employment letter, salary certificate, payslips or bank statements; if not employed, documents fitting your situation or three months of bank statements.
  • Proof of address issued within the past six months with your full name. If you live with family, their address proof plus proof of relationship.

Files: JPG, JPEG, PNG or PDF up to 10 MB, videos up to 50 MB, at most 9 files per submission. Send everything at once and avoid duplicates. Statements must be the original PDF or a complete, unedited, uncropped screenshot, and names, account numbers, balances, key transactions and dates must not be redacted. MEXC's terms also require identity documents in English or translated and notarised. Our free source of funds letter generator and source-of-funds letter guide help you build a matching explanation.

What still works while restricted

That depends on the restriction: MEXC can limit withdrawals, trading (leverage, pairs, order size), or both, and during a review some features may stay restricted. You can still contact customer support for status updates. Separately, P2P buyers verified in certain countries face holds of 24 hours or 48–72 hours before P2P-bought crypto can be withdrawn or resold. That is not a freeze, and spot, futures and margin trading stay available.

Closure and regional exits: withdrawing your assets

MEXC's User Agreement says it may send a written notice requiring you to close positions and withdraw your assets "within a limited period of time as determined by MEXC". If you don't, MEXC may close positions or convert assets (for example BTC to USDT). No fixed number of days is published, so act on your notice at once. If funds are reported as stolen, MEXC may place an administrative hold on them and the account. MEXC User Agreement.

The terms' prohibited jurisdictions include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, and the list can change. You must tell MEXC if you become resident in one. MEXC suspended fiat and P2P services for Netherlands users in March 2026. Finance Magnates reported in August 2026 that Dutch users would be offboarded in November 2026. The Defiant reported in October 2026 that MEXC was ending services in Russia and Belarus, with individual deadlines per account.

Common mistakes

  • Using a VPN or false location: giving a false location is grounds for termination under MEXC's terms.
  • Opening another account: MEXC says long restrictions exist partly to stop people creating or reactivating accounts to get around them.
  • Piecemeal, cropped or duplicate uploads instead of one complete pack.
  • Missing the deadline in a closure notice.
  • Trusting "support" in DMs: check social accounts with MEXC Verify, found in the website footer or under More → Services in the app.
Beware of recovery scams. MEXC says its staff never ask for your password or account details, or for transfers to unknown addresses. Anyone offering to "unlock" a MEXC account for a fee is a scammer. We never ask for passwords, 2FA codes, private keys or seed phrases. See the warning signs.
